    As a Senior Manager at Hitachi Consulting, Joel Stanton is highly experienced in developing tailored strategies and providing focused research and analysis for clients throughout the financial services arena. Joel has conducted numerous client projects addressing changes and opportunities in the payments space, with a particular focus on debit cards, prepaid cards, and ATMs.

    Experience

    • Joel has been actively involved with product and pricing strategy development for numerous players within financial services, including banks, credit unions, EFT networks, ATM deployers, processors, and card associations.
    • For the Federal Reserve, Joel has twice conducted an in-depth analytical study on the use of electronic payments in the U.S., first in 2004 and again in 2007.
    • For several FIs of various sizes, Joel has performed deep-dive analyses of potential opportunities to improve signature debit, PIN debit, credit, and ATM portfolio profitability and efficiencies.
    • For a top-25 bank, Joel led a distribution gap analysis designed to identify areas where the bank was under-penetrated and over-penetrated with ATMs.
    • For a top prepaid card processor, Joel conducted a competitive analysis of industry and market trends.
    • For a large EFT processor, Joel conducted two large scale customer research efforts, followed by the development of an integrated business strategy across multiple business lines.
    • Joel has co-authored several white papers focused on emerging issues in the ATM and debit card industries.
    • Joel has served as a speaker, panelist, and keynote presenter at several industry conferences.

    Most recently, Joel presented on “The Hidden Value of ATMs” at the BAI TransPay Conference, spoke at the PULSE Conference 2008, and served as the keynote speaker at the Georgia Credit Union Affiliates annual conference.
